Feedback– We needed to replace a very old boiler

Detail- We needed to replace a very old boiler in an old rambling house where we should have installed a pressurised system due to the size of the property and the number of bathrooms. For a number of reasons, we chose a Viessmann combi boiler and, so far, our decision has been a good one.

The boiler copes with the heating, 14 large radiators, and 2 baths and 2 showers with no issues. Obviously, it’s too early to talk about running costs as we are hardly into winter but so far, the bills have been well below our expectations. Overall, we are extremely happy with ‘big boy’ as we call him. Of course, it could be a girl we don’t know but I think it’s hard to offend a boiler.

Feedback- After many years of service my old gas boiler gave up on us after searching round for a replacement, we were recommended an internet company (Heatable) they have several different types but they said they thought a Viessmann would be a good idea for the size of my house so I chose the Viessmann to have installed from the moment it was switched on until now it has worked perfectly it was and still is the best choice i could have made.

Feedback- All good in the end

Detail- The new boiler was installed and the next day it stopped working. A new Fan was installed and the next day it reported a new fault with the fan
This may sound like a disaster but Viessmann responded very quickly and got it resolved. The engineer was just amazing and called Saturday night to sort out the boiler. Running perfectly now and to be honest I do not expect anything further issues.
Have tested Viessmann support a lot earlier than I expected or wanted but they proved to be very helpful and pro-active. Would have been a 5-star review (6 stars for the engineer) but for the initial problems.

FAQs:

How is boiler efficiency measured?

Since 2015, all new boilers and heating appliances are required to have an energy efficiency label under the Energy related Products (ErP) directive. For heat generators, the best efficiency class is designated with A++ and the worst with G. For DHW cylinders, the scale extends from A to G. On combi boilers used for both central heating and DHW heating, the classification is indicated separately for the two applications.

These labels provide you with a basis for comparing the efficiency of a boiler and hence can be used as a decision-making aid for new purchases or modernising a heating system.

When is the right time to replace my heating system?

Knowing when to arrange heating system replacement isn’t always easy, but there are a number of signs that suggest it’s time to make a change.

The occasional heating system breakdown may not warrant a replacement, but if your system needs to be repaired on a frequent basis, it could be time to get a new solution. Also, if your heating system is old and you find it difficult and expensive to source replacement parts for it, it’s worth considering making the switch to something new.

It may also make sense to get a replacement if your current heating system isn’t working as well as it used to, or if it no longer meets the needs of your household. In addition, you may benefit from getting a new solution if your current system is proving inefficient and therefore costly to run.

How long will it take to install a new heating system?

The length of time it takes to install your new heating system will depend on a range of factors, including the type of system you choose and how complex the fitting is likely to be. For example, if you’re replacing a boiler on a like-for-like basis in the same location in your home, the installation should take no longer than a day. However, if new pipework is required, you’re having your heating system power flushed or you’re changing the location of your boiler, you can expect fitting to take between one and three days.

If you’re having an entirely new type of system installed, installation is also likely to take longer. For instance, if you choose to have a heat pump system fitted, installation could take between three and five days.

Ask your heating engineer to provide you with a clear timescale for the work when you arrange the installation. This will ensure that you know what to expect.

What does a boiler service include?

A boiler service is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer and it includes a full inspection of boiler components. Your engineer will remove the casing of the appliance and check everything from the main injector, spark probe, and burner to the heat exchanger, electrical connections, and controls. They will also look at the seals, pipework, and combustion releases, and make sure your appliance is functioning at the right pressure.

Your engineer will replace damaged or worn parts as required too and clean components as necessary to help ensure your boiler is operating as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Real-World case: by Mr. Philip Davies

My personal experience with the make Viessmann, in 2010, I worked for a company that made Boiler analysers, I asked the sales rep which make of boiler was The Best as he visited all the boiler manufactures, in his own personal opinion Viessmann 200W was the best suited for my home, so I went ahead & had this fitted, the Viessmann 200W is a weather compensated boiler & has a Temperature sensor PTC fitted normally on the outside North facing wall away from the Sun, this adjusts the boiler temperature requirements, in winter Boiler temperature is set higher than summer, thus saving money,
In 10 years the only thing I had to do is tighten down the heat exchanger, nothing else !,
All my Gas bills have been very cheap, I live in a 1980s apartment, it’s not got any cavity wall insulation, & as a retired Aerospace – Defence Hardware Test Consultant I go for build quality First, I am very fussy on quality, Since I purchased my Viessmann 200W various upgrades have taken place over time on the latest versions, even a APP so you can control the boiler from a mobile phone APP,
I watched them install this boiler, the boiler fits on a wall frame then the pipes are fitted from below, the boiler then clips of the wall frame, you can have full control of the boiler on a front control menu, or from room sensors,
Can I recommend this YES I can,
The Build Quality is exceptional,
The function of the boiler is great, having temperature control of Hot water, Central Heating Temperature, Temperature slope can be adjusted for different insulation of the property & location, I live in the North West known for bad weather! & the Viessmann works very well, you can adjust the time on for daytime & night time house temperatures, as well as a timer for heating requirements, the actual heat unit is made from stainless steel & has a 10-year warranty when I had mine fitted, there is frost protection built into the boiler, I like the temperature to be on the warm side,
Yes, I am glad I went for the Viessmann 200W for my apartment.

Conclusion:

When winters are around the corner heating systems becomes a necessity. When it comes to heating systems, boilers are said to be the best option. They not only provide excellent ineffective central heat radiations but are tested by experts and claimed to be the most efficient heating system available in the market. So do choose the best boiler for your family this winter season!
