Buyer’s guide for Ideal boilers:

Ideal boilers are the best option available in the market in terms of quality and efficiency. They function effortlessly in the long term without being a burden on its owner. Although Ideal has the best boilers, there are number of factors to keep in mind when choosing the right model in the market.

  1. Compare the buying price with the installation prices– When you have set a price range as per your choice the installation prices are also to be compared. If not done so, it may cost much more than your expectations.
  2. Free boiler warranty- Warranty is one of the most important aspects of any boiler. It should be keenly looked into especially when going for an expensive model from any range. Ideal boilers come with a warranty of 2-10 years.
  3. Boiler fault codes– Boiler fault codes are the warnings that it displays on the screen when something is wrong with the system. Before buying the right boiler you much look carefully at these codes of the one you are going to purchase.
  4. Gas safe registered engineer– Before getting the boiler installed or even at the time of any service, do ensure to check the registration and qualification of the engineer performing the job.
  5. Size of your house– This is the most important factor as Ideal comes with a variety of models and ranges depending upon the size of your house. Always look for the right boiler depending upon the size of your house or it won’t provide 100% efficiency.

What Do The Experts Have To Say?

“If you are thinking about installing a new boiler then a few simple facts that can be understood by a non-heating engineer are very important so please read our simple guide. Ideal boilers have gained a lot of ground in recent years and are now competing in the top 3 boilers sold in the U.K. There are a number of different models on offer from the competitively priced to the higher end models designed to match the leading boilers from Worcester and Vaillant. Ideal do seem to more or less duplicate some of their boiler models but this is to do with manufacturing for distributors and also independent heating merchants. This can lead to some very good deals on certain boilers offering exceptional value.”

Customer reviews:

  1. Name– Julia Hemingway

Rating– 5 out of 5 stars.

Feedback- Customer services were easy to contact.

Detail- Customer services were easy to contact and very friendly and professional. They booked in for an engineer to visit, who contacted me in the morning to provide a time of arrival. The engineer arrived at the time slot stated and fixed the problem with the boiler quickly.

  • Name- Graham Carr

Rating– 2 out of 5 stars.

Feedback– No hot water/heating

Detail- We have no hot water or heating as gas valve not working I believe. Keep being promised an engineer will call but no one calls. I have a daughter just out of hospital with anorexia and i have progressive MS. I just want a call to say when they will be repairing the boiler rather than being fobbed off with promises. I also will not be happy if I am told two weeks for a visit as others have said in other reviews as totally unacceptable to leave your customers in this position especially those who are vulnerable.

  • Name– Will Chambers

Rating– 4.4 out of 5 stars.

Feedback– Out of warranty boiler repair fixed cost option

Detail– Arrived on time following an earlier call to advise when to expect the engineer. Polite, efficient and friendly and soon fixed boiler.

Only negative is no option to choose either AM or PM appointment so whole day lost (self employed) waiting in.

FAQs:

  1. How much do Ideal boilers cost?

Ideal boilers range in price from £590 to £2,200, depending on the type and size of boiler you need for your home.

 2)    How Often Should I Replace My Boiler?

The general lifespan of a boiler is around 10 to 15 years. While this is an average, your boiler may last longer if you take care of it well. You should decide to replace your boiler when repairs become too expensive or start mounting up. Opting for a new boiler at this point should save you money in the long run.

An expert engineer should be able to help you decide on the right time to replace your boiler.

3)     How Do I Know if My Boiler Is Economical?

If you’re buying a new boiler, or just trying to decide if you need one, how efficient it is will be a big part of your decision.

To find boilers that are economical, look for their ENERGY STAR rating. A well rated boiler should run very efficiently, whereas a poorly rated model may be more cost effective to replace in the long run.

You should find that all modern boilers are more economical when compared to older models.

4) WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BOILER AND A FURNACE?

A boiler is part of a heating system that heats your home by using water. A hot water boiler system circulates water in the heat exchanger of your boiler, which is then pumped through pipes to heat baseboards or radiators before returning to the unit to start the cycle all over again. A furnace part of a heating system that heats your home with hot air. A blower motor moves air through the furnace where it is heated and then distributes the hot air throughout a home’s duct system. The heat is then released from the duct system through the vents and registers in your home.

5) How Do I Know if I’m Getting a Good Deal on My Boiler?

Navigating price can be one of the most difficult parts of buying a boiler, and you want to make sure you get the best deal possible.

Real World Case: by David Bottom

Our boiler developed a fault recently whereby it seemed to have a mind of its own! It wouldn’t come on to the specifies times via the programmer but then it would decide to operate when it felt like it! First happened in October this year Ideal service engineer came out, reset everything happy days. Then it happened again this week. Ideal engineer came out again looked over at the boiler repair history and nailed the problem straight away. Because we had a separate thermostat, timer and a mechanical clock on the boiler we had 3 different controllers all conflicting with each other. He disconnected all the redundant devices and replaced all 3 with just one device which controls everything now, temp, timings and override to constant….what a relief we have just one device now which does exactly what it says on the tin. The engineer was well presented, polite and was very informative. I wasn’t in at the time but he explained the new controller to my wife before he left in full detail so she knew how to operate it. What a refreshing change whereby you get a reliable, competent service.

Conclusion:

On winter days having a good heating system becomes a necessity as we all crave warmth in that season. A good heating system not only provides us with comfort but also helps in a number of ways like saving energy and also with hot water whenever needed. Therefore, it’s very important to find a good central heating system based on all aspects and comparisons.
