During cold weather it becomes extremely important to have a good heating system in the house to keep our family and loved ones warm and cozy. We feel more comfortable throughout the day and at night while sleeping when we have a good heating system to keep us warm. When we don’t have such a system it starts to hinder in our daily lives. In fall and winter days it becomes difficult to function with our hands and legs as our fingers starts to feel a little numb. It also helps in avoiding health issues like cough, cold, diarrhea and other cold weather-related problems.

It is also a well-known fact that hot water has number of benefits in our lives and is the most easily available source of heat we have access to keep ourselves warm.

Boilers helps in keeping the surroundings in the house warm by producing steam through the flow of water. Steam is an effective and inexpensive form of heat transport phenomenon in cold weather. Rather than directly releasing the heat into the air, boilers help in heating the surface of the house like floors and walls through the flow of hot water releasing steam in the installed pipes.

Buying Guide:

We all crave warmth during fall and winter days when everything around us feels very cold. Some of become lazy in those because of they want to lie their bed with warm and cozy blankets and stepping out of them feels really cold. This in turn results in lethargy, loss of work etc. To avoid all these problems companies have come up with various ways to keep your entire house warm during cold weather like heaters, furnaces etc. One of any such product is a boiler.

The boiler is a closed pressure vessel that heats the water inside it which then is circulated in the house through pre-installed pipelines radiating heat through the walls and floor of the house. It is an efficient and inexpensive method of producing heat as it uses water in order to transfer it. Boilers are generally a close-looped system as they don’t constantly use new freshwater to operate but starts with the water already inside them.

Points to remember while looking for a new boiler:

  • PriceWhen it comes to price you should not only look at the cheapest options to go for. That is because the cheapest boilers generally require more power to operate which in-turn results in costing you much more in long run.
  • Type of fuel usedThere are various types of fuel used in-order to heats the water like fossil fuel. But the main problem with fossil fuel is that it produces carbon dioxide which results in air pollution and global warming in our environment. Therefore, a better alternative is natural gas.
  • Combustion control systemA proper combustion system enables a boiler to maintain an air-to-fuel ratio under various conditions. It should provide almost a complete fuel combustion in order to work efficiently.
  • Availability of spaceAnother most important factor is knowing the property space before purchasing the right boiler for it. Boilers come in various sizes depending upon the area they have to cover.
  • Hot water requirements- Hot water requirements also depend on the efficiency of the boiler as well as the size of the house.
  • The climate of your regionExtremely cold regions need a bigger boiler with more power and capacity whereas, slightly for less cold regions smaller boilers can work as well.

Do you know how Ferroli Boilers can help you?

As we all know by now that boilers help in keeping us warm in the cold weather but, do you know what happens when you don’t have a boiler or furnace or any other heating system?

There are quite a number of health issues faced by the people every year due to low-temperature weather. One of them is Hypothermia.

What is Hypothermia?

Hypothermia occurs when the temperature of a human body drops below 95˚F due to loss of heat from the body. This causes fatigue, clumsiness, weakness and more than usual urination. When even more severe it can also cause DEATH in some cases.

Therefore, in order to avoid these problems Boilers are one of the best heating systems for the house. It keeps the house warm with hot water flow and also provides us with warm water for many purposes like-showering, washing, cooking etc.

Beware of the heart problems!

Extreme cold weather can also cause heart attacks. The reason behind that is when you live in a cold temperature your heart in order to keep your body warm pumps blood faster than its normal rate which results in high blood pressure.

If you are not used to a lot of physical activities and living in the cold snowy regions, heart problems may occur.

Interesting Facts About Ferroli Boilers:

  • Although these boilers produce steam, they do not cause humidity in the air due to the fact that they have an effective system for vapors to escape.
  • Ferroli Boilers use environment-friendly green gases like natural gas which helps in preventing pollution in the air.
  • Boilers can reduce the cost of providing radiant heat of up to 90%.
  • Even though the name suggests otherwise, boilers don’t actually boil water rather they just heat it to a high temperature.

What Do The Experts Have To Say?

Minneapolis boiler expert David Howland has been a Service Technician at Standard Heating since 2005.

“Boilers provide radiant heat, which warms objects in a room. In contrast, a

forced air furnace warms the air in a room, which means objects absorb heat more slowly. Some people prefer boilers because they can set their thermostat at a lower temperature and the radiant heat makes the room feel warmer than the actual air temperature. Others say boilers provide more balanced heat throughout the home during the winter months.”SOURCE:

Real World Use Case —By Pete Ryecroft:

I am an installer and breakdown tradesman and speak from personal experience.
I was recently incensed by a review below where Santosh was refused warranty on a product because of ‘dirty system water’ (product does not have any system water) and it being 2m above ground. If that was the case and 2m is deemed a Health and Safety risk, then there won’t be many light bulbs being changed in future,

As a result of the review, I had a call from Karen at Ferroli and had an interesting and frank conversation about past wrongs and the current direction.
Ferroli were one of the first brands to bring combination boilers to the UK when Brassware Sales imported them – and they were pretty decent, especially given their modest pricing. For whatever reason, Ferroli ended up at the lower price bracket in the market and the brand was often cheap and piled high in builders merchants and DIY stores. The result was many of their boilers were thrown onto the wall with no prepararion and no installer aftersales support. The older boilers could cope but when Ferroli introduced condensing models in 2005, it all turned nasty. The product was built to a price and was marginal at best. Even those installed properly would develop random leaks. Given the low price point of the boiler, there wasn’t much left in the kitty for warranty at Ferroli. And that is when they became a running joke in the industry as the products were failing faster than they could fix them. Warranty was often refused and homeowners were left high and dry (well, wet, actually as leaks were main problem).

Things have indeed changed in the last two years. It appears that there has been a significant rethink and reorganisation at Ferroli UK. It is a brand new product and looking at the technical documentation, appears to be no worse than the ‘respected’ brands costing 40% more. The ten-year warranty is an outstanding proposition, provided they can honour it. Having spoken to Karen, they seem pretty determined to rebuild trust in the brand.

They deserve a special mention for parts pricing; Inexpensive boilers often have incredibly expensive spares – but not Ferroli. They are pretty reasonable in my view, and they are easy to get hold of.
Another point for not taking a credit card number up front when you request warranty service – many manufacturers do this, including the big ones that you think are the best (they aren’t – they just spend a lot on advertising).

If you are considering a Ferroli, it is not the boiler you should be checking out – you need to look at who is installing it and how they are going to install it. The installation labour is likely to cost as much as the boiler if it is to be done properly. You are much better off fitting one of these properly than a more expensive boiler fitted on the cheap.

Ferroli need to give Karen a pay rise.
