Well, it means you don’t have to find space to store any separate cylinders or tanks because the boiler doesn’t require any. BUYING GUIDE- Potterton Promax Store Boilers

Given below is a detailed guide on Potterton Boilers:

How Much Does these Boilers Cost?

Potterton’s Promax Store comes in a 90, 115 or 150-litre store, so prices vary between £1,900 and £2,140 according to the size of the store. You also need to consider the fitting cost because this won’t be included in the price of the boiler. Like we always suggest, you should shop around and compare both boiler and installation prices to see whether you can find a good deal. You could even ask suppliers and installers if they’d be willing to beat a price that you’ve found elsewhere so that you can save on these costs.

How long is the Warranty on these Boilers?

If you decide to purchase the Potterton Promax Store, you’ll receive a 2-year parts and labour warranty as standard. To keep the warranty valid, you must register the boiler within 30 days of installation and get it serviced annually.

Does these Boilers have a Good Range of Controls and Features?

The user controls can be found on the front of the boiler and include an LED operating status display, mode selector, integral 7-day twin channel timer and adjustable heating and hot water temperature controls. Because it’s a floor standing unit, Potterton has developed the boiler with a unique roller system so that it’s easy to install and move. It also comes with built-in two-stage frost protection and flue lengths up to 20 meters to allow for greater siting flexibility. What’s more, a simple mounting plate and pre-plumbing jig have been included to enable your engineer to save time on installation.

Are they High Efficiency Boilers?

It sure is. The Potterton Promax Store has an impressive SEDBUK A efficiency rating for heating and hot water, so it will help to cut the cost of your fuel bills. It’s a fully modulating boiler too, meaning it knows how much heat is required at any moment and can automatically adjust its output to meet the set central heating temperature. Plus, the boiler is compatible with Megaflo Eco Solar Cylinders and Santon Premier Plus Solar Cylinders, both of which offer a friendly and efficient way to provide your home with hot water. If you choose to install one of these cylinders, you’ll save you more money on your bills as well.

How will I know if this Boiler is Suitable for My Home?

This boiler is a bit like a system boiler, only it has its own store and doesn’t need a separate cylinder (or any tanks in the loft). It is designed to meet high hot water demands, making it ideal for homes with multiple bathrooms and properties that tend to use a lot of hot water at once. As the Potterton Promax Store is a floor standing boiler, it will require plenty of floor space.

The boiler is available in a 90, 115 or 150-litre store, so it’s suitable for small, medium and large-sized properties. Before you buy this boiler, you will need to consult a Gas Safe registered engineer for help with choosing the correct store option for your home and needs.

What do Industry Experts have to Say?

Potterton Promax is boiler of choice for Doncaster Social Housing overhaul.

As part of a complete refurbishment of social housing in Doncaster, St Leger Homes was looking for a strategic partner to help it cost-effectively install new heating systems in thousands of council-owned properties. Potterton was able to deliver a value-for-money solution to St Leger Homes which simplified installation, repair and maintenance and supported them with market leading aftersales care from its award-winning service division. St Leger Homes has installed almost 4,000 Potterton Promax Combi boilers in the last three years. They have replaced ageing combi boilers, like for like, and they have also been used to replace back boilers.

David Norman, Mechanical and Electrical Manager at St Leger Homes said: “We look after 21,000 homes in the Doncaster area, and as part of the Decent Homes refurbishment scheme, a large number of these properties required improvements to their heating system. With the volume of units involved and the associated installation costs to fit each one, we needed a strategic partner who would be able to offer value for money as well as help us get the boilers installed quickly and efficiently. To really cement the strategic partnership, Potterton has excelled in its aftersales care and support for us. Our installers were given free technical training to ensure each boiler that goes into one of our properties works at its best and that tenants are given the right information about how to use their new heating system to reduce their energy bills. We have also been given direct access to the company’s Customer Support team. This is really important for us as we have target times to respond to maintenance issues, so if there’s a boiler fault that requires an engineer and it’s under warranty, we can call before 3pm and get someone out the next day – guaranteed.” Bill Jones, Sales Director, Potterton, said: “Our partnership with St Leger Homes really shows off our strengths in the social housing market. Promax 24 Store is a floor standing condensing combination boiler which incorporates a hot water store to provide domestic hot water (DHW) and central heating (CH). The DHW temperature is user adjustable (e.g. for summer/winter operation). Operation is automatic and the fully modulating pre-mixed burner ensures that gas is burned cleanly and efficiently within the condensing heat exchanger. An advanced burner control includes flame monitoring, pressure monitoring and other safety features, plus status and diagnostic displays which are large and easy to read. Installation of this boiler as an unvented hot water system falls within the scope of the Building Regulations 1995 (Part G). These require that installation of an “unvented% system shall be notified to the local authority Building Control Department; also, that the work must be carried out by a competent person as defined in the Approved Document G3. The above requirements do not apply if hot water is obtained via an open vented feed tank. Samples of the Promax Store gas boilers have been examined by DVGW Technologies Limited, an EU Notified Body. The range is certified to comply with the essential requirements of the Gas Appliance Directive 90/396/EEC, the Low Voltage Directive 72/23/EEC and shows compliance with the Electro Magnetic Compatibility Directive 89/336/EEC, the Boiler Efficiency Directive 9 2/42/EEC and are therefore permitted to carry the CE Mark.

Promax Store boilers are delivered in three packages

(1) the heat engine and unvented accessory kit,

(2) the hot water cylinder and

(3) the flue kit.

The flue kit must be ordered/specified additionally to the boiler

Stories from the real-world use cases

real world usage case Best Potterton Promax Store Boilers Available for Home Source :

his popular type of boiler heats hot water as you need it. There is no need to install a hot water cylinder or cold-water tank, as the boiler is connected directly to the water mains – perfect for homes with limited space and a smaller hot water requirement. This type of boiler works together with a hot water cylinder, but usually doesn’t require a cold-water tank, as the system can be filled directly from the water mains. This type of system benefits from having an electric immersion heater within the cylinder which means you can still have hot water even if your boiler breaks down. This type of system is the latest cutting-edge technology to bring you renewable energy and hot water. It is environmentally friendly and energy efficient. via

I have a Potterton boiler, 10 years old, which I don’t consider ancient, considering what the boiler is intended for. It has cost us a small fortune in parts and labour over the years and I am heartily sick of it. I have just paid out over £300 for a new pcb unit for it only for it to run for a day and then have the fan unit pack up. Potterton have advised to change not only the fan but the air pressure switch too as that will almost certainly go after the fan is changed, another £255 including fitting for all that, all this on top of £100’s paid out over the last few months for minor odds and ends going wrong on it. Personally, I will never touch Potterton again. British made used to mean something, sadly not any more.

Sometimes the two types have been mixed in the following manner: the firebox contains a meeting of water tubes, referred to as thermic siphons. The gases then cross via a traditional firetube boiler.

Conclusion:

Surprisingly lightweight, Potterton is fairly large so it will only be a sensible option for homes where storage space isn’t an issue. It does, however, offer siting flexibility because it can be used with a range of flue options and comes with a unique roller system for easy movement.
These boilers are specifically designed for homes with multiple bathrooms and high hot water demands, whether it be a new build property or even a social housing environment. And because Potterton has developed this boiler to make installation really quick and straightforward, you should be able to save some money on the fitting works.
Although a practical solution for certain homes, many engineers have commented that Potterton boilers aren’t as reliable as other well-known boiler brands, such as Worcester Bosch and Vaillant. With this in mind, we recommend you have a chat with an engineer who has previously installed this model to find out if it’s as good as Potterton has said.
