What do the experts have to say?
Unlike buying a TV, where you can walk into the shop and pick one up off the shelf, the boiler industry relies on heating engineers recommending, sourcing, and installing them. So it can be pot luck in terms of the brand you’re dealt with and the price you pay, especially because engineers are incentivised by certain manufacturers. Viessmann offers gas condensing boilers for any size or type of home. Its range of boilers is called Vitodens and it’s available as a combi boiler, system boiler, heat-only boiler and storage combi. A variety of heat outputs and water flows are available for each type making the range suitable for any type or size of home.
Feedback – Purchased two of these last summer. They have been a pain since installed. Flame sensors get a white residual on them and then they fault with an E7 Code Boiler will last for about three weeks then fault again. Have tired new sensors, changed the ground, installed fresh air direct from outside Spent way too much time on them, and still not working right.

Feedback –Had the Vitodens 100W boiler fitted by iHeat a few days ago as my old boiler was about to die. Modern, quiet, and improved hot water throughout. Not needed to use the heating yet but all straightforward. Very impressed with the iHeat booking and installing system. The engineer was a 10-year British Gas veteran. All warranty paperwork was sent through swiftly. The boiler had a Which? Best Buy and the 10-year warranty was a definite selling point for me. Very happy with it.

Feedback – The boiler we have is the Viessmann 200 it is a different league of boiler. Its very efficient, fantastic interface, we are trying to get the controls correct but so far have realised that it doesn’t take long to reach the temperature we need and the viessmann cylinder is amazing keeps the water hot, and is always not so no waiting around. Have also noticed a significant drop in gas bills even though we have a bigger house now and are using it a lot more.
Also had a couple of teething problems and the support from Viessmann was fantastic, they came straight out, resolved the problem and worked directly with the fitter.
“Our Viessmann boiler developed a leak last week, we contacted the company who installed it and they were closed due to the Corona-virus lock-down. We managed to work out that the boiler was still under warranty so-called the Viessmann customer service line. The service we received was excellent, they confirmed that the boiler was still under warranty and that an engineer would be with us the following day. The engineer called us to confirm our address details, discuss our problems and said he would be with us by 9 am the next morning. He arrived a few minutes early and had brought everything he needed to repair our leaking boiler. Many thanks to all the UK staff who helped in these difficult times.”
1. How much will the installation cost?
Replacing combi costs around £600, while a conventional replacement will set you back about £700. Installing a combi boiler at a new site, however, is a bit pricier, at roughly £1,100.
What to do for servicing and repairs?
Breakdowns are rare. Viessmann boilers have a stellar reputation. The company sets itself apart from many of its rivals through its use of a stainless-steel heat exchanger, which is extremely resistant to corrosion.
A cut above the rest? Lots of Viessmann’s competitors use an aluminium heat exchanger that is more likely to be damaged, due to a tendency to corrode much more quickly.
How often do Viessmann boilers need servicing?
We recommend an annual boiler servicing to keep your model in sound working condition. That said, Viessmann does offer extensive after-sales support should a fault ever develop.
Check your warranty. Each Viessmann boiler comes with a warranty ranging from two to 10 years, ensuring that for the length of the term, most repairs will be completely free.
Just note that for many Viessmann boilers, you’ll only get the full warranty period if you have your boiler installed by a Viessmann-trained engineer and registered through Viessmann’s Installer Portal.
Excellent engineers: Viessmann has exclusive access to Gas Safe-registered engineers around the UK. If you need an expert, they can come to your home fully equipped to fix the majority of repairs.
